Organizing Streams

Once you get rolling with Ledger, you'll figure out that you might need to organize the streams to keep you and your work aligned. There are a few different ways you can do that. Learn the various methods and use what works best for you.

TIP: Every user has a unique sidebar. Your favorites, folders, or the order of streams are only visible to you. Your teammates will not see any changes you make to your sidebar.

Organize streams with favorites

Favorites can be easily found on the left sidebar. Think of favorites as a folder for the streams you want to highlight. You might want to highlight the most important, relatively new, or simply your high priority streams.

How to mark a stream as a favorite:

  1. Select a stream you want to highlight.
  2. Click the 'Add favorites' icon in the upper right corner.

  1. To see your favorite streams, click Favorites from the left sidebar.
    • You can also click the arrow button to collapse or expand the list of favorite streams. This way, you can view the list without leaving the window you are currently viewing.

Favorite streams are marked with a star left to their names. The star makes your favorite streams stand out when viewing the the All streams tab.

Organize streams with folders

Folders come in handy when you want to organize streams within a workspace. Here are just a few examples of how you might want to organize your streams:

  • By division
  • By department
  • By priority
  • By project type
  • By progress

How to create a folder:

  1. Click the + icon next to All streams.
  2. Click Add new folder.
  3. Give your new folder a name.
  4. Click Create folder.
  5. Drag and drop streams into the folder.
  6. Drag folders up and down the sidebar to reorder.

NOTE: When creating a new stream, you can also select what folder you want the stream to belong to.

To change the order of the streams, simply drag and drop from the sidebar. This works for all streams assigned or unassigned to a folder.

Organize streams with status

Setting the status helps you to organize streams and keep track of progress. You can view streams by status from the All streams tab or from within any individual folder. There are 6 types of statuses:

  • None
  • On Track
  • At Risk
  • On Hold
  • Off Track
  • Complete

Each status has a unique color. The color of the circle next to the stream's name in the sidebar represents the status. Additionally, you will see the status indicated on the stream card.

Note: all streams marked complete and/or archived will be removed from the sidebar. You may find them by going to 'All Streams' and simply selecting the matching tab.

How to set a stream's status:

  1. Select the stream to set the status.
  2. Click Status next to the stream's name.

  1. Select the appropriate status.
  2. Changes are automatically saved.
  3. To view the status history simply open the status drop down and select 'Status Updates'. This will open a side window providing a date stamp of each update, giving you clarity into how the stream is progressing.

If you select None, the status will appear as Status. A stream without a status assigned is still considered active. This means you can view this stream from the All streams > Active tab located on your sidebar.

NOTE: If you need to organize more sensitive information, consider creating a separate workspace.
