Using Search
Every conversation, file, task, or event is searchable in Ledger. To make searching easier, Ledger has two search fields: Global and Quick Search.
- Global search is located on your sidebar.
- Quick search is located in the top right of any window.
How to use global search
Use global search to search for streams, tasks, and events all across the workspace.
- Click the global search field from the sidebar.
- Type what you're looking for into the command palette. To narrow the search, use filters.
- Select an option from the list.
Note: your recent searches will appear on the top of this list for quick reference.
Global search filters
# | Search for streams |
/ | Search for tasks |
! | Search for events |
To use the filters:
- Click the global search field from the sidebar.
- Enter the filter before your search keyword (e.g., #documentation).
- Select an option from the list.
TIP: Type ? in the global search field for tips and shortcuts.
How to use quick search
Use quick search to search for information specific to the window you're currently viewing. You can make a quick search from a stream (chat, task, calendar, file), the global tabs (Activity, Tasks, Events, Messages, Saved), or stream tabs (All Streams, Favorites, folders).
- Select a space to do a quick search. Any window or tab has a quick search field in the top right.
- Type what you're looking for into the search field.
Ledger modifies your window to display only the information that meets your search keyword.
How to search files from a task or event
Searching for files from a stream's Files tab is one option. But if you know exactly which task or event the file you're looking for is attached to, try this.
- Select the task or event.
- Click Files.
- Click the magnifying glass icon.
- Type what you're looking for into the search field.
The list is modified to show only the files that meet your search keyword.
