Add Teammates

If you're an account owner or workspace admin, you can add members to Ledger. You start by adding teammates to each workspace you own or have been invited to. Then, add people to each stream or direct message you create.

NOTE: If you're a member, you can only invite guests or add existing teammates to a stream or direct message.

In Ledger, the workspace you belong to or own acts as a private, high-level container. For example, each division - sales, marketing, legal - within an organization might have its own workspace. You can also have separate workspaces for each vendor, client or agency you work with. This keeps work secure and solid, as nothing can be mistakenly shared or accessed between workspaces.

Now that you have a workspace for your team, you want to invite people to work with.

How to add teammates to a workspace

This is the best way to add teammates in bulk just to a workspace. After inviting people to a workspace, you can add them to the appropriate streams.

  1. From the left sidebar, click Add teammates.
  2. Under Workspace Members, enter the email address of the people you want to invite.
  3. Click (insert) or hit the space bar.
  4. Add as many people as you want.
  5. When you're done, click Invite New Members.

Under Name, you can see the list of workspace teammates. If the invitation has been sent, but the person still needs to join, you will see (pending) below the name.

How to add teammates to an existing stream and the workspace

While adding people to a stream, you might realize that a teammate isn't part of the workspace yet. In this case, follow these steps to add a teammate to the stream and the workspace.

  1. Select the stream you want to add a teammate to.
  2. Click the Add people icon in the upper right corner.
  3. Enter your teammate's email address.
  4. Click Invite and select the role type (Admin or Member).
  5. When you're done, click Add people.

Your teammate will be added to the stream and the workspace.

How to add teammates to a new stream and the workspace

When creating a new stream, you can add a teammate who isn't part of the workspace yet to the stream and the workspace.

  1. From the left sidebar, click Add new stream.
  2. Give the stream a name, then enter your teammate's email address.
  3. Click Invite and select the role type (Admin or Member).
  4. When you're done, click Create stream.

Your teammate will be added to both the new stream and the workspace.

NOTE: Make sure your teammates check their inbox as soon as possible. The invitation expires in 7 days.

How do I know if my teammates joined the workspace?

  • When a new teammate joins a workspace, you get a notification. You can find the notifications icon in the bottom right corner. You will see a tiny loading red spot on the icon if there's anything new.
  • If you want to check the status of the people you've invited, click Add teammates > scroll down to Name. There are two statuses: Member or Member (Pending).
    • Member: The person joined the workspace.
    • Member (Pending): The person still needs to accept the invitation.

TIP: If you need to resend an invitation, go to Add teammates > Name and click the arrow button next to the person's name.
