Add References

Make it easier for your teammates to find the stream, task or event you refer to in a message. By using references, all they have to do is click the link. References also enhance the readability and clarity of a message. Instead of typing, "Please check the previous meeting we had with our client," you can type, "Please refer to #meeting."

TIP: You can add references from Chat, DM, or Comments section (task or event).

References overview

  • You can only reference elements you have access to (e.g., you created it, or you are a member of the stream).
  • You can reference streams, tasks or events created within the same workspace.
  • Comments or messages can include multiple references.
  • If you reference an element from a private stream, only the teammates who have access to that stream will be able to view the link. For those who don't, the link will not work.

How to add a reference

  1. Select the comments field of a Chat, DM, or Comments section.
  2. Click the # icon or type # to insert a reference item. A list of reference elements pops up.
  3. Type the name of the task or event that you'd like to reference, or you can start with the type such as 'stream...' to filter down to a list of all the streams you can reference.
  4. Select an element from the list.
  5. Type your message.
  6. When you're done, click Send.
